Summer Art Camp at Seize the Clay is the best place for kids to unleash their creative side! Here at STC we have camps for kids ages 5 years and up in a variety of art mediums like clay, paper maché and mosaics. Snacks are provided at camp and in addition to all of the fun things we will make each camper will tye-dye their own Seize the Clay Summer Art Camp shirt! Please note that not all camps have multiple sessions. However if one of our listed camp times does not work for you simply get a group of at least 5 friends together and we will do any camp for your group any time. A $50 *non-refundable deposit is required to hold your child’s space as seating is limited.  Call 901-323-2991 for more information. See you in the studio soon!

* Deposits will be refunded in the event we have to cancel a camp. Should you not be able to attend camp after signing up you may either transfer your deposit to another camp or we will issue you a Seize the Clay Gift Certificate for the deposit amount.

Ahoy Mates!  Come aboard the S.S. Seize the Clay and set sail to the far corners of the earth and down to the deepest depths of the ocean.  This camp is specifically designed for children ages 4-8, this camp lets children learn sculpting and painting skills, improve their dexterity, gain confidence, and most importantly have a ball.  Campers, you will sculpt cups, bowls, funny fish, mermaids, crabs, whales and even a pirate ship. Once fired, you will paint your pottery using our huge range of colorful under glazes.  Your unique work will be unveiled at your very own gallery show on the last night of camp.  Bring your friends and family to sip sparkling grape juice and munch on hors devours as you show off your masterpieces!  

“Let’s Go for a Spin” Wheel throwing Camp

A potter’s wheel will be on every camper’s wish list at the conclusion of this camp.  Like riding a bike, learning to throw pots on a wheel is a skill when once mastered can be recalled and enjoyed for a lifetime.  Campers receive individually tailored instruction to learn the basic skills needed to begin to create pots of all shapes and sizes.  After that, campers direct themselves in the direction they want to go- whether it be making every one in their family a mug, or throwing one of everything from plates to vases!  Campers, you will also learn how to paint with Italian Majolica paint.  With all your rewarding work behind you, come relax with your friends and family and show off all your work at your gallery show on the last day of camp.  We promise it will be “wheely” great!

“Fun in the Garden” Hand building Camp

“You GROW Kid!” Our Fun in the Garden camp is the perfect opportunity to see if your little one shows inclination towards the arts.  Specifically designed for children ages 5-9, this camp lets children learn sculpting and painting skills, improve their dexterity, gain confidence, and most importantly have a ball. Campers, you will sculpt cool flower pots out of clay.  Once fired, you will paint your pottery using our huge range of colorful under glazes. Campers will also craft some cool garden themed art like a fantasy garden collage. We will also learn to make cool flowers out of tissue paper and paint garden markers for our new flower pot. This camp is going to be lots of GREEN fun!

“Break It Up” Mosaic Tile Mirror Camp

The Greeks did it! The Romans did it! Why don’t you give it a try?  Mosaic art will always draw oohs and ahhs.  At the end of this camp you will have a beautiful mosaic tile Mirror to call your own.  Campers you will begin by learning a little about the history of mosaic.  Then comes the fun part using broken tile called tesserae you will begin to lay out your design then you will glue down the pieces on your Mirror!  After you have grouted the tile, you will have your very own Mirror to ooh and ahh over! Students should have a design prepared before the first day of class.

“Mommy & Me Tea Set” Painting Camp

 This is our only “come and go” as you please event. Seize the Clay will have special tea sets available 1 day only at a special rate for moms and their daughters to create together. Tea sets include: Tea pot, Creamer and Sugar and 2 Cups and Saucers (additional cups and saucers available for $8.00 each and tea trays for $20.00 each). Come in and paint while supply’s last.

"Outer Space" Hand Building Clay Camp

Long ago in a galaxy far away… one-of-a-kind creatures roamed distant planets.  What kind you ask? Why any kind campers can create. We will create out of clay a unique alien from a remote planet. We will also make the landscape of our planets by attaching clay pieces to a canvas painted by each camper. A unique hanging solar system mobile will be constructed out of paper maché to show exactly where their planet is located in the universe. This is our most diverse camp to date using a wide range of art materials such as clay and glazes, paper maché, canvas and paint. Campers will delight in all the new creations they can create using these different artistic options. There will be a gallery show the last day of camp to exhibit your art.

“Monster Friends” Paper Maché Camp

Let your imagination take a walk on the wild side as we create our own unique MONSTERS in Paper Maché.  Learn an old art form that still has massive appeal.  Paper maché is a fun, easy, and adaptable medium perfect for quickly creating stable sculptures sure to last a lifetime.  Campers you will paper maché one Monster creature of your choice.  Once dry, you will paint your creation and then decorate it with ornamentation such as fabric, glitter, pipe cleaners, feathers and more!  Dress down because paper maché is sure to make a mess.
