Seize the Clay is the largest Paint Your Own Pottery Studio in Memphis, TN. We have the largest selection of blank pottery pieces and the most extensive paint selection for you to create your next masterpiece. Customers will pay the actual cost(s) of the blank pottery pieces chosen. In addition to the pottery cost(s) each painter will be charged a $7 Studio Fee. The studio fee covers all of your paints and materials to complete your piece as well as the glazing and firing of your pottery. Painting at Seize the Clay is as easy as 1-2-3.

Step 1: Come into the studio and choose from our wonderful selection of unfinished or blank pottery shapes. We have a huge assortment of more than 300 different pieces from classic plates and platters to funky coffee mugs. We have an extensive selection of children’s pottery such as cool piggy banks and boxes. Our Pet bowls and treat jars are perfect for your pamper pup or spoiled kitty. Seize the Clay has all of this and MUCH more. Our inventory changes regularly so stop in often to see all of the exciting options for you and you family to paint. Prices range from $5.50 for a collectable figurine to $100 for our largest platter. The average cost of pottery is in the $12 - $35 range.

Step 2: Once you have decided on you blank pottery shape(s) our helpful staff will instruct you on all of the different paint options we have for you to use. You will learn how to select your colors and the appropriate way to apply the colors to your piece. We have a large selection of inspiring idea books as well as stamps and stencils to help you design your masterpiece. Here at Seize the Clay we have several different paint options for you to use. Our Fun Strokes are our most popular paint option. Fun Strokes colors are perfect for creating bright and vibrant designs. Our Pottery Glazes are great if you love the look of stoneware pottery. Pottery glazes are so easy to use and they are perfect for anyone who may not consider themselves artistically inclined or are looking for a designer look. We also have beautiful Crystal Glazes that you can purchase in place of paying the studio fee. Crystal glazes are truly magic; simply paint 3 coats of the glaze and then wait in anticipation for the glaze to work its magic in the firing. Crystal Glazes are fun and great for any age. Seize the Clay is a lead free studio, all paints and glazes are non-toxic and water based.

Step 3: Once you are all finished our master glazers will carefully load your piece into our kilns and fire your pottery to the appropriate temperature. Your Masterpiece will be ready to pick up in about 3 to 5 days. Seize the Clay will NOT call you to remind you to come back and pick up your pottery. When you check out you will be given a yellow pick up slip. It is important that you retain this slip and present it to our staff when you pick up. Since we file the finished pottery by shape/function and NOT by your name it is imperative that you have your pick up slip. Seize the Clay reserves the right to refuse customer pick up with out the yellow pick up slip. All pottery not picked up with in 8 weeks of the pick up date may be donated to the Junior League Thrift Shop.
